We have done some more Madeira tasting at
Renaissance Wines (in Hillsboro Oregon).
The first tasting there were 5.
Miles Rainwater Cossart Gordon 5 year Malmsey Cossart Gordon 10 year Bual The Rare Wine Company Historic Series Boston Bual Barbeito Reserva Velha Malvasia - 1913 They are listed in order of price. The rainwater was
nice - we bought a bottle. We also got the Boston
Bual, it was really smooth. The Barbeito Malvasia
was wonderful but at six times the price the Boston,
we got the Boston.
The next tasting was a formal fortified wines
tasting. Mike at Renaissance had Sherry, Medeira and
port. He made some great reference cards and there
were three Madeiras:
Miles Rainwater
The Rare Wine Company Historic Series Boston Bual Barbeito Reserva Velha Malvasia 1948 This was actually when we bought the Rainwater and
the Boston Bual as he didn't have any at the first
tasting.
Last night Mike had a bottle of the Historic Series
New York Malmsey. We liked that even better than the
Boston Bual. We didn't get it yet - as we have plenty for now...
