White Christmas

For the second time in my life we are having a white Christmas. I lived in Denver for many years, but was always in the NW for Christmas, so rarely was there snow on the ground.

The last time we were living in Seattle - I was in grade school. Our neighbor had to go to the hospital in an emergency - I remember the ambulance lights on the snow. Happily she was fine, but her kids were really scared that day. My mom sat with them until their dad got home.

I do remember the year it snowed the day after Christmas - feets worth of snow in Seattle. The city was paralyzed. I was able to get a flight out 4 days later.

This year we don't have far to travel, we got chains for the trip to Dad's.

Here is a video of Christmas morning:

Carl recieved a bunch of toys - but his favorite thing is the packing popcorn from one of his presents.

Helping the neighbors

Carl recently made a bird feeder at school. They took very large pinecones, put butter on them and rolled them in birdseed. They tied a ribbon to the top to hang them from the trees. This was part of a lesson on how animals hunt for food all winter long.

The feeders were sent home with the assignment to draw a picture of the birds they see.

It took refiling the feeder three times, but we finally got a picture. I was also able to get some photos. They appear to be Dippers or Chickadees.

We are having a very snowy time here. Right now many highways are closed and there are restrictions - chains are required on the highways that are open (not just snow tires or 4 wheel drive.) We probably 8" of snow with 3 layers of ice - one on the ground, one about halfway up and an inch thick and another thin layer about an inch down. The snow won't pack so no pics of snowmen - Carl is bummed.

Are you wearing that?

Wow, you sure look good in brown!

WOW! Look at you!

Here, have some wine

What are you so worked up about?

Could we be overreacting?

Here's my paycheck.

Here, have some wine

Should you be eating that?

You know, there are a lot of apples left.

Can I get you a glass of wine with that?

Here, have some wine

What did you DO all day?

I hope you didn't over-do it today.

I've always loved you in that robe!

Here, have some more wine and chocolate

So good Christmas cookies and wine would do the trick....
